Accessibility on the Web

After recent changes to the law, the scope of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) now extends to services on the internet. This means that you are legally required to ensure that your website is made accessible (in much the same way that shops must make provision for wheelchairs).

Web browsers do not all display information in the same way as your potential customers may need to access information in different ways (e.g. someone with visual impairment would use a text reader). W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) publish guidelines for the way in which websites are written in order to make them accessible to all. In order for your website to reach as many people as possible and comply with DDA law , it is important that these guidelines are followed.
